The Honorable Sir Edward Moore Kennedy Amendment

I propose a new amendment to the Constitution.  Let’s call it Amendment XXVIII: The Legacy Act.

And the text should be as follows:

No law shall be passed in eulogization of any member of Congress, Senator or Representative.  Also, no Representative or Senator may name any publicly-funded institution after themselves.

Our country was not meant to be a monarchy.  To name a law after a lawmaker is dishonorable, as it ignores the totality of the deceased’s accomplishments as well as establishing a false legacy. In fact, all public officials should follow the example of George Washington, who was offered a kingship but turned it down.  Oh, and by the way…

Article I, Section IX:

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State.

It seems like someone overstepped that boundary.

Not to mention, he did in fact oppose universal healthcare.

I wonder why.

(Oh, and by the way, this is our 200th post!  Thank you so much to all of you who have stopped by, commented, as well as linked to the site.  Without you folks, there would be a whole lot more of me talking to myself!

Remember to tell your friends (and enemies!) about Bulletproof Diction!)
