Guess someone gave this professor a bad apple, in the form of an opposing opinion.
I love how the professor called the student a “fascist bastard”…and then refused to let him continue speaking.
Who is the fascist again?
But insults and attempts to silent the student were not enough for this pill of a prof.
When Lopez tried to find out his mark for the speech, the professor, John Matteson, allegedly told him to “ask God what your grade is,” the suit says.
My professor has a first name, it’s C-O-N-D-E-S-C-E-N-S-I-O-N.
And just in case the professor felt like he didn’t get his point across well enough,
Lopez also said the teacher threatened to have him expelled when he complained to higher-ups.
I guess “free speech” is only free at LACC if you agree.
And of course, LACC uses the master card in the Deck of Liberalism:
In the letter, Dean Allison Jones also said that two students had been “deeply offended” by Lopez’s address, one of whom stated that “this student should have to pay some price for preaching hate in the classroom.”
Ah, yes. “Deeply offended”.
Did I mention this was a “public speaking” class?
Aren’t students supposed to have diverging opinions? Aren’t they supposed to take different sides of issues?
Unless you’re against Prop. 8.
Then you’re just “preaching hate”.
You “fascist bastard”.
