Opportunity Knocks

One of the ugly social problems that stems from economic downturns is the crawling of crazies out of the woodwork who are ever-so-eager to point fingers so they can advance their tinfoil-hat agendas.  You know the kind: those last 20 or so LaRouche nuts, the inbred Phelps family, etc.  Well, it appears that looniness has suddenly gained an international flair.

Muslims should take advantage of the global financial crisis to build an economic system compatible with Islamic principles, influential Sunni cleric Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi said on Sunday.

“The collapse of the capitalist system based on usury and paper and not on goods traded on the market is proof that it is in crisis and shows that Islamic economic philosophy is holding up,” said the Egyptian-born, Qatar-based cleric.

“Holding up?”  Really?

[Nonie Darwish] ‘contends the oil-rich nations of the Middle East are deliberately keeping their populations in abject poverty because they want to put all their wealth into spreading Islam into the Western world.’

Somehow this doesn’t surprise me.  All of the economic barons of the “oil-rich nations” seem perfectly content with capitalism when it comes to their own wealth, but Allah forbid they let some of their own people practice it.

“All riches are ours… the Islamic nation has all or nearly all the oil and we have an economic philosophy that no one else has,” Qaradawi said.

He urged Muslims to “profit from the crisis to bring about the triumph of the (Islamic) nation, which holds the spiritual and material resources for victory.”

And people call me crazy for claiming that the main goal of Islamofascists and their ilk is to increase the size of the umma underneath the dar al-Islam.

The sixth conference on Jerusalem is being attended by around 300 people representing political parties as well as Muslim and Christian NGOs, from various countries.

It is staged by Al-Quds (Jerusalem) International Institution, which is dedicated to the conservation of the holy city and its sacred places.

Participants include Khaled Meshaal, exiled head of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, and Ali Akbar Velayati, a top adviser to Iranian spiritual leader Ali Khamenei.

The three-day conference will look at ways of protecting Jerusalem and its holy sites, which participants believe are threatened by Israel.

What the heck kind of Christian NGO would travel to Doha, Qatar to participate in a conference held by an obviously radical group of people?  Is this what they talked about when they meant “spiritual dialogue”?

Hamas politburo Chief Khaled Mashaal is also among the participants.

He also added that occupied Al-Quds and its sacred places would be restored neither through negotiations nor through settlements; however, the only way to restore them is by the resistance.

Ah, yes.  Of course.  “Resistance”?  That’s what the al-Quds Brigades are for!

The al-Quds Brigades is the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamist organization Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). Especially active in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, the al-Quds Brigades are reportedly receiving orders from the PIJ leadership in DamascusSyria.

In the Gaza Strip, the al-Quds Brigades continued to fight for their cause, which is to return Palestinians to their righful homeland, Jerusalem.

“Friends”, “folks”, and countrymen, these are the terrorists.  There is no doubt about it.  They’re crafty enough to deftly maneuver the AFP and other media, but the free-loving people of the world are not amused nor bamboozled.  Apparently, these crafty radicals are stupid enough to all congregate in one place and at one time.

Just one daisy-cutter?  Please?
