Obama: Shameless (and Lying) Populist? Who, Me?

Update: Not just shameless populism, but incorrect as well!  My conjecture was correct.  Of all of their properties (eight total,) none are owned by John McCain.

Apparently, McCain has as many houses as Obama has siblings.

McCain’s response is fantastic:

Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses? Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people “cling” to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who’s in touch with regular Americans?

The reality is that Barack Obama’s plans to raise taxes and opposition to producing more energy here at home as gas prices skyrocket show he’s completely out of touch with the concerns of average Americans. –McCain spokesman Brian Rogers

Now, make that into an ad, and run it IMMEDIATELY.

It also appears that Gov. Kaine is now carrying the water for Obama, and, on his inaugural attack, has positively failed:

“I understand that Sen. McCain was asked yesterday this question, ‘how many houses do you own?,’ and he couldn’t answer that question. He couldn’t count high enough apparently to even know how many houses he owns,” said Kaine.

Who would have thought that Obama’s potential VP could be such a prick?

Along with Harry Reid, that makes two boorish statements today by Dems, for those of you keeping count at home.

It’s well-known that McCain has a pre-nup with his wife, so those properties (which she owns) have no bearing on him.

Did Obama forget that just four short years ago that his party ran a guy who was married to a fabulously wealthy condiments heiress?

Shameless populism.  Change that we can believe in.

  1. One more instance of trying to make an issue out of something that is irrelevent to the election and what is really important, ie…Immigration, Economy, etc.
