Progress in Iraq
Note: JT’s been holding down the fort, and I promise to start posting more. InPublish Post the meantime I’ll be posting these news stories along with commentary like I do on Facebook.
And to be clear the “2007 build up of troops” was called the surge, the “Sunni revolt against al-Qaida in Iraq” was called the Sunni (or Anbar) awakening, and “government crackdowns against Sunni extremists and Shiite militias” partly show the successful completion of benchmarks in Iraq (now 15 out of 18 successfully completed).
But the Associated Press isn’t going to tell you that because most of the press treated the Sunni awakening as a myth, the surge as a last ditch effort in a hopeless situation, and while benchmarks were all the rage last year it is passe to mention them now they are being passed rather quickly.
